Code Red
Jessica McGaugh
United States, 2025, 8 min.
In English.
After a menstrual mishap on her way to class, a professor is exposed to her students and must decide whether to flee the scene or teach a lesson about shame.
Director's Statement
Code Red is based on the true experience of bleeding through my pants on my way to teach a class. That’s right – period blood. After sharing my mishap with friends, everyone I talked to share a similar story. We all bleed, so why do we shame? Through humor, my team is tackling the important yet often overlooked issue of period shaming, aiming to spark dialogue and challenge societal taboos. While most of the menstruation media focuses on teens, we decided to look at this issue through a different lens – through the eyes of a grown up.
