Director's Statement
Rumor is a contemporary Western that works both within and against the genre. Set on the High Plains, the film is about a girl in an impossible situation: her brothers have kidnapped the bully who drove her twin to suicide, and they want her to decide what to do with him. The film questions the gendered and racialized violence of Westerns, connecting the past to the present political moment.
