A Fistful of Rubbish
David Regos
Spain, 2019, 14 min.
In Spanish/English with English subtitles.
This film is family friendly.
A Western environmental documentary, A Fistful of Rubbish is set in the Tabernas Desert in Spain - Europe's unique desert. An area known for being the backdrop of many famous Western films, sadly is being trashed. But now, with the help of some locals, an English ex-pat is forming a posse and taking things into his own hands. Literally.
Director's Statement
It's time for inspiration when it comes to environmental issues. For me, humour is an important factor in education and raising awareness. This film is not simply about highlighting an issue, it is about raising the consciousness of people around the world to take action in addressing problems in their own community. The world needs environmental heroes now more than ever, and I wanted to use the relevant Western motif as a device to exaggerate this idea in an entertaining way.
