Maggie, a young married woman, awakens to the final morning of an extramarital camping trip with her lover, Robert. During the drive back home, she is shocked to discover her wedding ring is lost. As the day yields into night, the search becomes more and more punishing. What will be lost as the sun sets? And as it rises again, what will remain?

Director's Statement

On the surface, "Lay in Wait" is a simple story of an unraveling betrayal, a short film depicting the dying moments of an ongoing affair. But below the water, unseen but informing everything, "Lay In Wait" represents surrender to the overpowering will of inevitability. A lie cannot be a lie forever, youth cannot be youth forever, and life itself cannot be anything except finite. In searching for her wedding ring through the thicket of nature, Maggie and her lover test the very boundaries of their mortality, channeling their survival instinct to stave off all impending revelation.
