Unc follows Aaron Campbell, founder of Level Up, a health and social wellness intervention program funded by the city of Philadelphia’s Roadmap to Safer Communities. The film navigates trauma youth of color in West Philadelphia experience due to gun violence and gang retaliation. Heart wrenching stories are shared by teens and their mentor Aaron, along with their hopes and dreams for a better future.
Director's Statement
I am so honored that Unc has been included in the Arizona International Film Festival! My hope is to bring awareness to the issue of gun violence in what has become one of the most dangerous cities, West Philadelphia. I left a little piece of my heart with these kids. Their stories have had a profound impact on my life and it is a humbling privilege and honor to share them with you.
