An exploration of natural silence and human existence within it.

Director's Statement

Avoesis is a two year project in which Mykhailo delve into the essence of natural silence and human existence within it. This short documentary presents a culmination of collective work with Liam Heneghan and Edward Tverdek about this subject through philosophical, spiritual and ecological lenses. In the documentary, the desert metaphor illustrates the forest of tomorrow while Jesus himself is that perplexing fallen tree. The written word in a notebook is lasting insight perceived throughout times. Silence in the sanctuary swallowed by an urban environment is a portrayal of the Divine’s echo from above - the universe. The reality of universe is silence. That infinite silence is certainly not as captivating as the avoesis of our own precious and unique natural world.
