Best Experimental Short

Filmed at Masonboro Island, an undeveloped barrier island in southeastern North Carolina, Tides contemplates the liminal space between the modern technological world and that more ecological dimension we label as "nature" or "the environment."
Director's Statement
My creative work explores the commonalities and crossovers between the natural environment, virtual landscapes and states of consciousness. Though these topics, at first glance, may seem unrelated, my work teases out connections between them while considering how we are increasingly separated from our ecological surroundings and spending more of our lives online - in other words, taking part in an exodus from the biological to a virtual world.
