When her mother tragically dies, a girl named Zoe embarks on a physical journey through the five stages of grief. Through encounters with several forest animals that are more than what they seem, Zoe eventually finds peace. Where the Deer Sleep is a drama about what happens to us when we lose someone and are forever transformed by the grief process.

Director's Statement

Where the Deer Sleep is a film built around a phenomenon familiar to those who have tragically lost a loved one; after that loss, there is a strange, terrible journey that leaves you changed forever. The film is structured so that anyone who has experienced this grief journey will interpret the story in their unique way. Where the Deer Sleep is a story that was realized with a truly indie budget and a small crew. We built a breakthrough animation production pipeline that let us make a movie that does this meaningful subject matter justice.
