Ectropy

Jordan Schulz
United States, 2024, 19 min.

In No Dialogue.

"ECTROPY" follows the Artist, a member of the Timeless Presence species who struggles to see his potential. Aided by the young Gaia, the Artist faces existential challenges and immense pressures as they paint the fabric of nature itself.

Director's Statement

I tell stories about identity, memory, and the unseen forces that shape us stories that challenge perception and stay with you long after the screen fades to black. Ectropy is a reflection of this, exploring creation and destruction as two sides of the same force, much like art itself. Independent filmmaking allows me to explore these themes without compromise, capturing raw, intimate moments alongside bold, cinematic storytelling. Filmmaking is about connection finding truth in both the quiet and the grand, the personal and the universal. Every frame is a chance to explore meaning, and I strive to make each one
