Kakadu
Flóki Dagsson
Iceland, 2023, 6 min.
In Icelandic and a nonsense language, with English subtitles.
This film is family friendly.
A dadaist interpretation of the typical icelandic farm drama. With the lack of meaning creates a satire of the stale state of cinema.
Director's Statement
Kakadu was born out of spite. In a typical Icelandic short film competition for me and my peers, the experimental films rarely win anything, but what usually wins is the cliche, hard realist Icelandic countryside drama. So I decided to make my own countryside drama, and transform my small amount of nationality, into a Dadaist parody of its self. Where the characters walking through the existential horrors life, recite dramatic monologues. but the monologues are excerpts from poems by Hugo Ball based on nonsense and lies!
