You Are Invited to the Kick-Off Celebration
This special event begins at 5:30pm on Thursday, April 16 with a reception at the Hotel Congress lobby in honor of the 14 Arizona filmmakers selected to screen at the 2009 Festival. Then bike on down to Cinema La Placita for our first FREE Community Screening at 7:30pm.This bike-in film extravaganza under the stars is a fundraiser for The Screening Room's new marquee so hold onto your handle bars when the documentary VEER hits the screen.

Congratulations to the Reel Frontier Finalists
The Reel Frontier Film & Video Competition celebrates and rewards excellence and innovation in independent media arts expression. Animation, documentaries, comedy, indie features, experimental films and much more will be part of this cinematic mix.

2009 Festival Chairperson
Councilwoman Regina Romero will serve as the Honorary Chairperson for this year's Festival. "I am honored to serve as the chair of the Arizona International Film Festival. By providing a venue for filmmakers whose voice would not otherwise be heard, we are offered a fresh perspective. The Festival contributes to revitalizing downtown offering a quality cultural event."

Congratulations to Pan Left for 15 Productive Years

Free Community Screenings
The Festival invites the Tucson community to attend the free screenings scheduled throughout the Festival. It is a great opportunity to see independent films from around the world.

Tucson Welcomes Festival Filmmakers
Out-of-town visitors have a variety of choices when it comes to resting their heads after an exciting day at the Festival! The Historical Hotel Congress, which housed and aided in the arrest of infamous bank robber John Dillinger, The Hotel Arizona, a hub for all things downtown Tucson, The Inn Suites, where cinematic legend John Wayne used to stay, and our newest hotel, the Executive Inn & Suites. Each hotel features discounted rates for anyone attending the Arizona International Film Festival.
