In the mountains of Arizona and New Mexico lives a very rare and endangered subspecies, the Mexican Gray Wolf, also called Lobo. In the early 1970's, this wolf was believed to be completely gone from the wild. When a ten-year-old female, together with four males, was found in the Sierra Madres of Mexico, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Mexican government began a daring operation to save the Lobos. Today the Mexican Gray Wolf faces yet another possible extinction due to its genetics and limited habitat. Will the mountains of the Southwest be able to hear its howl forever echoing in the wild?
