I Hate the Man in My Basement

Dustin Cook
United States, 2017, 104 min.

In English.
Includes violence and adult language.

A man is in grief after the murder of his wife. When he is coerced by an obnoxious co-worker to join him for some salsa lessons, he develops an unexpected crush on his instructor. Unfortunately for him, it is hard to move on with a budding romance when you have your wife's killer chained up in the basement.

Director's Statement

I think given the title of the film, audiences should expect something a little different than they're used to. I really wanted to explore the depth and variety of emotions. See if I could capture an audience, then take them on an emotional journey like they haven't experienced in a film. Someone described it as. "...a film that creeps into your psyche', finds its way into your heart then just sort of bounces its way around..." and I think that's pretty close to the experience.
