Director's Statement
WELCOME BACK is a story of survival through the eyes of a mother. A story of broken families, of finding an answer to "where are am I from?" when the world tells you don't belong anywhere. The film shows the immigration issue from a different perspective. It's the story of someone who just got deported to their "birth-country", Mexico, a place they don't feel it's their home anymore. Through the eyes of Carmen, we see a story of those immigrants that are not "from here" or "from there". A generation that can't find a place to belong in the world. And to belong is an essential need in human nature.
