re÷belief is a 3D Printed, hand crafted, zoetropic short-film that asks if recalling memories can break a cycle. A Graduate Student produced Thesis, completed for the MFA in Film and Animation Program at Rochester Institute of Technology's School of Film and Animation.

Director's Statement

This film is a personal story recalling nine specific instances of my life. Memories that have repeatedly haunted me throughout my youth and adulthood. They reflect times of bliss mixed with sullen, miserable moments. Ultimately, the story thread focuses on cycles, childhood, religion and relationships. 3D Printing, handcrafting and manufacturing these zoetropes impart a physicality within this film. After all, Zoe translates as 'life' and trope is a reoccurring motif. It is hoped the viewer would allow their own life experiences, moments and feelings to emerge and discover the resonances of the film's themes within their own memories or consciousness.
