As the disease progresses, Hope must learn to balance being both Steve's wife and caretaker. Steve struggles to find meaning and joy in an ever limited life. The couple is supported by their local Atlanta community, and huge social media following, but in the end the lean on each other to keep going, constantly redefining the phrase, "living life to the fullest."
Director's Statement
When we initially found out about Hope and Steve Dezember, we thought we were helping them make 5-10 minute PSA videos for YouTube focused strictly on the disease. After being with them for a few months, we soon realized that we had been given a perhaps once in a lifetime opportunity to tell a most moving and heartbreaking love story. We raised funds to make a feature length documentary on Kickstarter (something noe of the crew had never done before) and set out to tell the amazing story of Steve and Hope Dezember.
