A black Camaro speeds down a deserted Louisiana highway, destination unknown. Behind the wheel is a stone-faced man; in the passenger seat, an expressionless blond woman wearing sunglasses and a dog collar around her neck. Neither says a word, but they drive with great purpose, growing ever closer to something--or someone.
Meanwhile, disgruntled convenience store worker Max empties his employer’s cash register, jumps into his broken-down old pickup truck, and hits the road. What these three denizens of the open road have in common and what happens when their paths inevitably cross unfolds across a sumptuous geography. The enigma: when they do meet, will Max be able to outrun a fate far worse than a dead-end job–or even death itself?
Moody cinematography, a gritty Americana soundtrack, and a pulsating, dreamlike tone garnish a tense tale of what happens when people are treated like animals: more often than not, the “dog” is more human than the master.
