No Tomorrow

Roger Weisberg & Vanessa Roth - USA - 2009 - Runtime: 80 minutes
Arizona Premiere

Risa is a vivacious teenager. When she is brutally murdered, a documentary featuring her becomes the D.A.’s best argument for imposing the death penalty on her killer.

Sparked by a coincidence – Risa’s murder several months after being highlighted in Aging Out, a documentary about teenagers leaving foster care – No Tomorrow chronicles the criminal trial, primarily focusing on the jury’s sentencing options: life imprisonment or death.

The film explores the lives of the victim and her killer. At the same time, it considers the impact at trial of a documentary made for a totally different purpose. And it examines capital punishment and its relationship to justice in the aftermath of crime and heartbreaking loss.

Roger Weisberg’s documentaries cover a wide range of current and controversial topics. They have received over one hundred awards, including Peabody, Emmy and duPont-Columbia awards, as well as two Academy Award nominations. His film about problems faced by the seriously ill who are without insurance, Critical Care, screened at the 2008 Arizona International Film Festival.

An Academy Award, duPont-Columbia, and Sundance award-winning filmmaker, Vanessa Roth has been making social commentary documentaries for over ten years.
